Welcome to Our school
Blacktown Sinhala School provides a unique, individualized and accelerated Sinhala Language educational programs that is shaped by Sinhalese Cultural Forum of NSW and which gives our students a taste of Sri Lankan traditions, culture and Sinhalese language skills and community builders in multicultural Australia.Blacktown Sinhala School was established on 26th of February 2006. As a school we strive to teach our children to write, read and speak our mother language, Sinhala. We also provide them with an opportunity to learn about the Sinhala culture and to socialise with children from the same family background. Children attending school also get the opportunity to participate in cultural events organised by the Sinhalese Cultural Forum, such as Bak Maha Rangana, Biennial Sinhala School Concert and the Biennial Mahawamsa Exhibition. Blacktown Sinhala School is partly funded by a grant provided by the Community Languages Program of the Department of Education, NSW. The language skills of our students are recognised by the NSW Government via the Ministers’ Award Program conducted annually.
